COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will be able to explain the role and function of business in the United States economy. Students will be able to describe leadership characteristics and human relations skills needed by managers. Students will analyze the role of supply and demand in the United States economy. Students will identify the roles of marketing and analyze the impact of marketing on the individual, on business, and on society. Students will be able to define a code of ethics, develop a code of ethics, and apply a code of ethics to various cases confronted by business. Students will be able to describe ways in which international business is important to the United States economy. Students will be able to relate balance of trade concepts to the import/export process. Students will be able to describe what is needed to become an informed consumer as well as become familiar with the rights and responsibilities of consumers. Students will be able to identify the opportunity costs and trade-offs involved in making choices about how to use scarce economic resources Students will learn the importance of managing limited personal financial resources and recognize that more of the wants and needs of a society can be satisfied if wise consumer decisions are made. Students will become familiar with, evaluate and compare the services offered by banks and other financial consumers. Students will become familiar with different savings plans and explain why savings is important to consumers. Students will become familiar with stock and bond investment options. Students will be able to explain what credit is, how it is granted, and identify appropriate uses of credit by individuals and businesses.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
